Albaugh Lecturers

The Roy B. Albaugh Phi Beta Kappa Lectureship was endowed in the late 1970s by Mrs. Oma Buchanan Albaugh in memory of her late husband, a Waco business and civic leader, who moved to Waco in 1920 and remained here until his death in 1964.

The generous gift to Baylor’s Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa provides the chapter with the opportunity to present a public lecture by a distinguished scholar. The purpose of the Albaugh Lecture is to bring a nationally renowned scholar, artist, or thinker to the Baylor campus for the benefit of the university community, as well as the Waco community. The speaker is chosen in conformity to one overarching principle: to reflect the high ideals of both Phi Beta Kappa and Baylor University, and to contribute to the enrichment of Baylor in its mission to be a tier-one, research-oriented, Christian university.
